New Friends

A couple of weeks ago, a group from South Carolina (mostly) came to our area to help work some seldom-worked territory near us. Because they got to their house on Saturday, they were at our meeting on Sunday, so after the meeting we had a big lunch and were able to start to get to know each other.

We've had several groups like this come in over the last couple of years, but because they normally only work during the week, I have not been able to go out with them. This group, however, came on Labor Day weekend, which meant I had Monday off and was able to join them on their first day out. It was so great and so encouraging. Brandon & I were in a car group with Susan, Vicky, and Inez and had an awesome time with them all.

On Wednesday night, we again had refreshments after the meeting. We stayed and visited with everyone some more for a long time. Even though we didn't get home until really late that night, it was totally worth being sleepy the next morning to get to spend time with our dear new friends!

Friday night, it was our turn to be guests. Everyone was invited up to their "big yellow house" near the lake for dinner. We weren't allowed to bring any food - just come and enjoy their hospitality. I have to admit that as much as I wanted to go, I was really tired by the time I got home from work that day. I went anyway though and was so happy that I did!

When we arrived, we found our new friends hard at work finishing up a huge spread of delicious-looking food. After eating, we played a little game to help us really get to know one another. Next, we took a group picture (I'd love to have a copy of that!) and then we all sang a song together. Even without music, it was beautiful...very touching, and a great way to end the evening!
